Ecuador Mountains by <<<ALIEN>>> is one of my favourite CTF maps. Very RMG
feel to it with the classic 3 ways of attack. Centre, Left using a tunnel or
right through the mountains. Highly recommended for CTF

Columbian Village by The Tech Columbian Village by The Tech is a remake of a map from 2003 by Siffer. If you like Jordan the chances are you will like this. A very nice well illuminated map with plenty of alleyways for you to explore. Well worth the download.

Some time ago when re-installing SoF2 and before adding the gold patch to bring my 3 year old CD up to date, I noticed there were lots of servers still running version 1.00 I decided to do a duplicate SOF2 installation in a second folder on my PC, but running v1.00. I have to say its like another dimension with many hundreds of players never seen on the gold version. You can add v1.00 in about 4 minutes, why not give it a try:) There are more people playing RMG than on gold!!

Playing SOF2 v1.03
Some months after SoF2 was launched a number of modifications were made to the original game which included bug fixes, new weapons, Punkbuster anti cheat software and additional maps. This update, called the Gold Patch changed your original game to v1.03. It was intended to replace to 1.00 version but if you make a copy of your original v1.00 files before applying the patch you can still play both versions.

If you try to connect to an SOFII v1.03 (gold) server and
you are running v1.00 you will get an error message saying
"server uses protocol version 2004" In order to play v1.03
(gold) you need to make a new version of the game and update
it with the Gold Patch. Note Punkbuster operates on most
sof2 gold servers so you will need a genuine copy of the
game with a key/guid that is not on the PB banlist in order
to play. Follow these simple instructions
to get SOF2 v1.03 up and running in addition to your
SOFII v1.00 installation. Remember you can still play v1.00 so you have nothing
to lose by having both.
The following files and folders are already on
your PC (not your CD) 1. Download the Gold patch above 2. Copy your SOFII v1.00 folder and rename it
SOF2
GOLD
3. If you have folders named adm, rpm or RPMPro
delete them
4. Run sof2goldfull.exe to modify the
NEW folder you just created. 5. Create a desktop shortcut to SoF2MP.exe which is in
your new
SOF2 GOLD folder
6. In order to play on servers you will need to
download some versions of OSP and
RoCmod
otherwise you will get kicked from servers with the
error message... "Server
disconnected: Unpure client detected. invalid .PK3 files
referenced!" Note
unlike with v1.00 you WILL need the correct mod to play on
servers.
Remember to select Punkbuster ENABLED on your SoF2 menu
screen.
What's different about
SOFII Gold?
Most noticeable differences between v1.00 and gold
are........
Introduction of 3 new weapons,
namely the MP5 rapid fire automatic rifle, the SIG55
scoped automatic rifle and the Silver Talon pistol. Four new
maps are included in the patch, mp_kam5, mp jor1, mp shop2,p
kam4, mp col2, mp hos2 and mp pra2. It is now possible to drop and
pickup weapons and items such as flags and briefcases. And
of course the introduction of Punkbuster anti cheat
software. Generally there
are a lot more servers running Gold but sadly RMG is no
longer as popular as it once was.
Servers that run mods such as OSP and
RocMod
(similar to the RPM mod in v1.00) also require you to have
the same version on your pc in order to connect to them.
There are also some major modifications to the game
available.
Goldrush has many features including 14 new gametypes, 16 maps, 2 new RMG terrains,
new admin/referee system, very good
bots and a feature where wounded players are slower than
healthy players.
The International Crime Syndicate mod
I.C.S. 2.1 adds new weapons, maps and
sounds and features gas grenades that induce a fit of
coughing.
The Jeel SpecOps Mod v3 adds new weapons including toxic gas
and laser targeting.

Most SOFII v1.03 servers run Punkbuster anti-cheat software
and you will need an up-to date client version of Punkbuster
in order to play on these servers.
Each copy of SOFII has a unique serial number that gives you
the user an equally unique player ID or GUID. If the CD you
are using does not have a unique key (CD is a copy) or your
GUID is logged on a list of banned players you will be
kicked from servers by Punkbuster.
The Punkbuster files on your PC are designed to update
themselves automatically.
HOWEVER......
Even Balance (Punkbuster) have announced a new tool to aid
players and server admins.
It's called PunkBuster Setup and allows you to keep track of
your current PB version for both client and server, and
update all games on your computer at the touch of a button.
Features:
1. Ability to install/update PunkBuster software for
multiple supported games
2. Ability to correct corrupted installations of the
PunkBuster software
3. Self-updating executable; you may from time to time be
notified of new versions of PBSetup itself. A download and
update will happen automatically.
How to Install PBSetup: 1. Download PBSetup for your OS platform
Windows (472KB) 2. Place the file in an appropriate directory: 3. Create a desktop shortcut to pbsetup.exe and then
double click on the icon.
When you run the program for the first time it will ask you
what games you wish to update and where they are located on
your PC (Add a Game) You can then click on 'Check For
Updates' and the system will download and install the very
latest version of Punkbuster.
